Darren McGavin’s career spanned from the 1950’s TV series, Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer, to 1983s cult-classic film, A Christmas Story, to his 1990 Emmy Award-winning role on Murphy Brown.
In 1954 McGavin originated the role of Bill Starbuck in The Rainmaker on Broadway. (See post about alumni Dirk Benedict’s appearance at the theatre in the same play as Bill Starbuck.)
Following his success as Mike Hammer, in 1964 McGavin appeared at the Historic Elitch Theatre in A Thousand Clowns.
