Tony-award winning actress Barbara Cook appeared at the Historic Elitch Theatre in 1987, in a show that was billed as “A Concert for the Theatre.”
By the 1980s she was best known for her live concert performances (especially of Sondheim musicals) but she made her greatest mark on Broadway in the 1950s when she originated several roles. Her Broadway credits include Plain and Fancy (1955), Candide (1956) and The Music Man (1957).
In 1958 she won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for her role in The Music Man.
