In 1947, Vivian Vance opened on Broadway in the original cast of It Takes Two. Almost 20 years later, in 1966, Vance came to the Historic Elitch Theatre in the show The Time of the Cuckoo with co-star, Olympia Dukakis. In the meantime, she was busy with a little TV show called I Love Lucy.

- In 1953, Vance became the first actress to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress; she accepted her award at the Emmy ceremony in February 1954. She was nominated an additional three times (for 1954, 1956, and 1957) before the series ended.
