David McCallum’s Bio from the Historic Elitch Theatre program from the 1976 production of The Mousetrap:
DAVID MCCALLUM (Detective Sergeant Trotter) born in Glasgow, Scotland, worked in amateur theatre groups from the age of eight until embarking on his first professional engagement in 1946 with the BBC. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and worked in theatre, TV and film in Europe before coming to America in 1962 to play Judas Iscariot in George Stevens’ THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD. He has lived in America ever since.
His work in film includes BILLY BUDD, FREUD, THE GREAT ESCAPE, and LA CATTURE; in TV, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. series, TEACHER, TEACHER for Hallmark Hall of Fame, HAUSER’S MEMORY, and SHE WAITS, both movies for TV. Mr. McCallum also appeared in the all-star special of Christopher Isherwood’s adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN, recently starred with Robert Wagner in THE COLDITZ STORIES, a TV series for BBC and Universal in London, and has directed an episode of the BBC’s EXPLORER Series for British TV in Morocco.
Recently Mr. McCallum appeared on Broadway in THE FLIPSIDE and, during the summer of 1974, starred with Eileen Herlie in an East Coast tour of CROWN MATRIMONIAL in which he played the Duke of Windsor.
He is currently starring in the NBC-TV series, THE INVISIBLE MAN. He is married to a former model, Katherine Carpenter and they have a son, Peter, and a daughter, Sophie.

DAVID MCCALLUM (Mr. Prior) – first acted professionally with the B.B.C. Repertory Company in 1946. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London from 1949 to 1951, and after appearing extensively in theatre, film, and television in Europe, was brought to the United States in 1961 by George Stevens to play Judas Iscariot in The Greatest Story Ever Told.
Mr. McCallum has appeared on television in The Colditz Story, The File on Devlin, Frankenstein, Hauser’s Memory, The Invisible Man, Kid- napped, Profiles in Courage, Sapphire and Steel, and Teacher, Teacher. He is perhaps best remembered for his role as a super spy on The Man from Uncle.
In the theatre, Mr. McCallum has appeared in Alfie, California Suite, Camelot, Crown Matrimonial, Deathtrap, Donkey’s Years, The Flip Side, Night Must Fall, Romantic Comedy, Salome, and Sleuth. Elitch audiences will remember him for his starring performance in The Mousetrap in 1976.
Moviegoers will recall his performances in A Night to Remember, Billy Budd, Critical List, The Diamond Hunters, Dogs, Freud, The Great Escape, Hell Drivers, La Cattura, The Long and the Short and the Tall, Mosquito Squadron, Three Bites of the Apple, The Secret Place, and Watcher in the Woods. In 1974 he directed an episode of the B.B.C. series Ten Who Dared, which dealt with the life of the Arabian explorer, Charles Montague Doughty.
Mr. McCallum lives in New York with his wife Katherine and their two children, Peter and Sophie. He spends most of his spare time in front of his computer or out on the golf course.
