Audra Lindley (1969)

Audra Marie Lindley (September 24, 1918 – October 16, 1997) was an American actress, most famous for her role as landlady Helen Roper on the sitcom Three’s Company and its spin-off The Ropers.

However, eight years before her ultimate role, she appeared at the Historic Elitch Theatre in the play, The Chic Life, with the legendary James Whitmore!

Audra Lindley has most recently appeared on Broadway in “Fire.” She was with Melvyn Douglas in “Spofford,” Art Carney in “Take Her, She’s Mine” and Van Heflin in “A Case of Libel.” After a stint with Warner Brothers early her career she came east to appear in several Broadway productions, including N. Richard Nash’s “The Young and the Fair” with Julie Harris. Though she left the theatre to raise a family of five children, she managed to become a actress during during the Golden Age of Television, starring in about 100 prime-time dramas on such programs as “Playhouse 90” and “Kraft Theatre.” She was later featured on such daytime series as “The Edge of Night” and “Search For Tomorrow” and has been seen for the past five years as Liz Matthews in “Another World.”
