While the 1906 season at the theatre may be Mary Elitch’s most-notable season, 1907 may be the most un-notable.
Aside from a pre-season appearance by Mrs. Fiske and her company, and an appearance by Maude Fealy in When Knighthood was in Flower, there was very little about the season that was notable.
Although, on July 15, 1907, Fealy was secretly married to Louis Sherwin — a young newspaper man and drama critic for the Denver Republican — their wedding was not revealed (even to family) until the story leaked out on July 26. Several weeks later Fealy appeared at the Elitch Theatre as Mary Tudor in When Knighthood was in Flower. [Borrillo, p. 79.]
Perhaps the biggest name to ‘appear’ at the theatre was when Ethel Barrymore, who was performing at the Broadway Theatre downtown, came to Elitch to watch a rehearsal of The Girl with the Green Eyes with her friend, Mary Elitch.”
