Hermione Gingold (1965)

As if the play’s main title wasn’t enough — “Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma’s Hung You in the Closet and I’m Feelin’ So Sad” — it even has a subtitle: “a pseudoclassical tragi-farce in a bastard French tradition.”

In 1963 Hermione Gingold originated the lead role on Broadway (directed by Jerome Robbins), and in 1965 she would reprise the role at the Historic Elitch Theatre.
